My car currently sits at an oil life of about 10%. This is fairly normal, a common practice with this type of vehicle is to get it changed every 5,000 miles or so. You drain the old oil, clean out the filters. Tidy up around some other spots and get back out on the road. In the eleven days since my last blog, I've done quite a lot of thinking. Maybe it's time I got an oil change.
Now, I can't just drain the sap out of my brain and refill it. It's different when it comes to the cleansing of our lives. Have you ever thought about what would happen if you just went AWOL? Silent? Would anybody even notice? Try this out- stop texting first. See who reaches out. Those who don't? Well, those are dead plants that you've been watering. Cut them off.
I've spent quite a lot of time in my life watering dead plants. Supporting those who wouldn't think twice about me. You get so scared of losing people that end up tying their anchors to your feet, letting them pull and drag you wherever whilst getting nowhere yourself. That's no way to live. I think it's time I stopped putting energy into relationships with people who couldn't care less about how I'm doing.Â
I've got to take a step back and focus on myself. That's what's most important to each of our lives, isn't it? Ourselves. We are vehicles, we need oil changes. If you neglect your vehicle and let it break down, you put yourself and everyone around you at risk. So take care of yourselves. Respect yourselves. Stop giving other people what they want. You have to live for YOU!
Have a great weekend!
